Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Full Time - Float for ED/Acute

Job Summary:
• Perform the full range of standard nursing care duties under general supervision, adhering to established procedures and protocols.
• Observe, interpret, record, and report patients’ symptoms, reactions, and behaviors.
• Apply nursing theory to clinical practice by executing routine patient care assignments and establishing nursing procedures in controlled patient care settings.
• Assign tasks to and review the work of clinic support staff within the scope of practice, such as Clinical Assistants, Medical Assistants, and Licensed Vocational Nurses.
• Stay current with registered nursing field requirements and maintain competencies relevant to the scope of practice.

Essential Skills:
• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to understand and perform routine emergency treatment tasks and procedures.
• Ability to accurately perform a head-to-toe assessment on patients of all ages.
• Ability to understand and carry out written, oral, and/or graphic instructions.
• Ability to accurately perform intermediate math, including addition, subtraction multiplication, and division. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedure or government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively in a one on one and small group situation to patients, visitors, and other employees; and to convey health education to individuals as directed by the emergency department provider.
• Ability to comply with procedures for infection control and asepsis.
• Knowledge of med/surg equipment, supplies, and instruments; and the ability to properly use them.
• Ability to interact with the public in a professional and positive manner.
• Understanding of and ability to use proper body mechanics to prevent injury to self.
• Ability to document accurate patient records.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of your duties.
• Understanding of the principles, practices, and standards of nursing.
• Understanding of pharmaceuticals prescribed for patients of all ages.
• Other Duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
• Valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State of California.
• Valid Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
• Preferably possess Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• ACLS certification required within six months of hire.
• Completion of CMT course within six months of hire.
