Job Summary:
- Supervisory and Management Responsibilities:
• Manage personnel functions including recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with fiscal responsibilities and budgetary controls.
• Oversee departmental supplies and equipment procurement.
• Maintain adherence to District and departmental policies and procedures.
• Shift coverage as necessary – varies with staffing needs
Nursing Services Functions:
• Ensure high standards of patient care through compliance with nursing protocols and regulatory standards.
• Supervise and evaluate care quality through audits and quality improvement processes.
• Develop and evaluate clinical programs and pathways.
• Facilitate effective communication and patient admission processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate patient documentation.
• Foster staff development and professional growth.
- Administrative Functions:
• Contribute to departmental goal setting and compliance with regulations.
• Develop and revise policies and procedures as needed.
• Transmit relevant directives and updates to nursing staff and leadership.
• Review and update departmental job descriptions annually.
- Quality Assurance:
• Implement risk management and safety programs.
• Monitor clinical compliance and facilitate continuous quality improvements.
• Prepare Quality Management reports and support survey processes.
• Assist with staff onboarding and clinical education programs.

Essential Skills:
• Strong understanding of nursing practices and medical procedures.
• Knowledge of regulations governing acute and emergency patient care.
• Leadership and supervisory abilities up to and including maintaining departmental schedules
• Effective organizational, planning, and communication skills.
• Ability to handle and resolve complex situations professionally and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Associate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program, Bachelors or Masters preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years in emergency nursing and 2 years in acute or critical care.
• 1 or more years of demonstrated nursing administration or supervision within the last 5 years.

Licensure / Certifications / Registrations:
• Valid California State Registered Nursing License.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current PALS certification.
• TNCC or CEN certification required within six months of hire.
• MICN required within one year of hire.
