Job Summary:
•Under licensed nursing supervision, provide care to older residents in the skilled nursing facility.
•Assist residents in performing activities of daily living.
•Provide bedside care and assist in the treatment of patients.
•Maintain residents’ baseline health and encourage rehabilitation by providing ordered range of motion and exercise programs.
•Monitor for and report changes in resident presentation.
•Participate in the development of residents’ plans of care.
•Maintain and operate hospital and nursing equipment.
•Work independently on routine assignments and consult with charge nurse or Director of Nursing on non-routine assignments.
•May be assigned to other nursing departments as needed.
Essential Skills:
•Understanding of basic medical terminology.
•Knowledge of principles of bedside care, including bathing and feeding residents.
•Ability to accurately take and record vital signs, weights, and measures, and maintain concise records.
•Accurate documentation of patient records.
•Ability to understand and follow written, oral, and graphic instructions.
•Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions, safety rules, and operating manuals.
•Effective communication skills for interacting with residents, visitors, and staff.
•Compliance with infection control and asepsis procedures.
•Knowledge of med-surg and SNF equipment, supplies, and instruments.
•Professional and positive interaction with the public.
•Proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
•Ability to maintain effective work relationships and provide compassionate care.
•Maintaining confidentiality and preserving residents’ rights.
•Meeting residents' psychosocial, emotional, and physical needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
•High school graduate or equivalent.
•Successful completion of a nursing assistant course.
•Current California Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
•Valid Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
