CT/X-Ray Tech - Imaging
Description:

Reporting to the Imaging Manager, the Diagnostic Imaging Technologist is responsible for radiological care to patients of all ages. Must have working knowledge of conventional Radiology. Must be able to operate all X-ray equipment and PACS. Prepares exam room, equipment, supplies and medications for patient s procedures and is responsible for patient education. Proven competency in addition to conventional radiography, working knowledge in at least one other area CT, MRI, or Interventional Radiology if applicable competencies are met. Call required.

Qualifications:
BLS
Must be licensed and hold current certification in Radiologic Technology by the State of California, ARRT, Fluoroscopy permit (within 6 months of hire).
Weekend rotations will be required.

Level I:

Employees in this position are expected to meet the same criteria as Level II in performance, but are licensed for only one modem, radiology/fluoroscopy.

Level I and II:

Licensed or certified in two or more modems, radiology/fluoroscopy, and/or mammography, and/or Computerized Tomography (CT). Performs a variety of standard and complex procedures on those persons referred by a Physician for routine and emergency examinations, and special procedures. Creates and records paperwork and billing information of all examinations, and prepares final radiographs and paperwork for Radiologist's review.

Under general supervision, works alone on routine or regular work assignments, checking with supervisor regarding non-routine assignments or when in doubt as to correct procedures to be followed.

Minimum Qualifications:

A. Education

Level I and II:

1. High school graduate or G.E.D.

2. Satisfactory completion of an AMA approved program in radiological technology.

Level II:

3. Completion of education and/or training required for certification in other modem/s.

B.Experience

Level I:

1.Prefer minimum of 6 months experience as a radiological technologist.

Level II:

1.Minimum of two years experience as a radiological technologist, with fluoroscopy experience.

2.Minimum of six months experience in other modem/s.

C. Licensure / Certifications / Registrations

Level I and II:

1. California State License (CRT) with Fluoroscopy, and American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) registration

2. Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification

3. IV Venipuncture/Contrast Administration course completion certificate (only technician's with this training and certification may perform injection of contrast administration procedures)

Level II:

4. California State License in Mammography, and/or

5. ARRT (National Licensure) in Computerized Tomography (CT).

Essential Skills

1. Possess knowledge of theory, principles, and techniques of performing x-rays, and fluoroscopy, and/or mammography, and/or CT.

2. Possess knowledge of principles of radiation safety.

3. Possess knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and human physiology.

4. Possess knowledge of basic repair of departmental equipment.

5. Ability to perform x-ray, fluoroscopy, and/or mammography, and/or CT examinations independently.

6. Ability to operate and care for departmental equipment.

7. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports.

8. Ability to perform intermediate arithmetical calculations accurately.

9. Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

10. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.

11. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.

12. Ability to handle stressful situations in professional manner.

13. Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.

14. Ability to operate modern office equipment.

15. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships contacted in the performance of their duties.
