Certified Nursing Assistant - Acute - ACUTE
John C. Fremont Healthcare District is looking for CNA's to join our team!

We have positions in our Acute department and looking for that individual that can provide care to our patients in the hospital.

Job Summary: Employee performs various non-professional patient care duties in the acute nursing department. Maintains and operates hospital and nursing equipment: provides bedside care and assists in the treatment of patients. Includes Cardiac Monitor responsibilities. May be assigned to other nursing departments as needed.

Employees in this position work alone on routine or regular work assignments, checking with charge nurse or Nurse Manager regarding non-routine assignments or when in doubt as to correct procedures to be followed.

Note: Certified Nursing Assistants who are regularly assigned to multiple nursing units must receive a copy of the job description for the other unit/s, and be evaluated on performance in both positions

II. Minimum Qualifications:
A. Education
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Successful completion of a nursing assistant course.
3. Successful completion of Cardiac Monitor course within 6 months of hire

Experience
Level I New graduate or less than one (1) year acute experience.
Level II Minimum of two (2) years med/surg experience.
Level III Minimum of three (3) or more years or comparable and cross trained to SNF and/or HH.
Level IV Minimum of five (5) years and cross trained to SNF and HH.

Licensure / Certifications / Registrations
Level l
Current California Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
Valid Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
Current Cardiac Monitor certification within 6 months of hire.
Level II Same as Level 1, CMT Certification
Level III EMT certification (Level III Acute CNAs must present one CE qualifying in-service to District staff annually.
Level IV RNA Certification, taking College level courses in the healthcare industry working on general education towards nursing degree.

Essential Skills
Understanding of basic medical terminology.
Have knowledge of principles of bedside care, including bathing and feeding patients.
Ability to accurately take and record vital signs, and keep accurate and concise records. Write legibly.
Ability to understand and carry out written, oral, and/or graphic instructions.
Ability to accurately perform intermediate math, including addition, subtraction multiplication, and division.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
Ability to speak effectively on a one on one and small group situation to patients, visitors, and other employees.
Ability to comply with procedures for infection control and asepsis.
Knowledge of med/surg equipment, supplies, and instruments; and the ability to properly use them.
Ability to interact with the public in a professional and positive manner.
Understanding of and ability to use proper body mechanics to prevent injury to self.
Ability to document accurate patient records.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of your duties, and provide sympathetic bedside nursing care.
Ability to operate telemetry equipment, and accurately monitor readings.
